About us
Our technology has been researched and developed by aeronautical engineers for eight years. Our engineers started their research with a resin that originated from airplane wings and through out these eight years we developed our “magical” resin. Keahana’s resin combined with our 40% solid and 60% air EPS foam has created a surfboard that makes you feel like you are “flying” on water. We are confident that you will quickly feel the Keahana difference because the boards produced with Keahana products generate more speed, projection, and maneuver recovery resulting in maximum performance.

Currently, Keahana manufactures every component needed to produce a complete surfboard by providing all necessary tools (from the foam and resin to the Keahana oven and cloth). Keahana is the “single source” for shapers anywhere in the world. It is important to note that our epoxy concept allows shapers to keep their artistic lines, styles, curves, and models unlike mass produced pop out boards. Boards produced with Keahana have the flexible feel of polyester with the performance and durability of epoxy.

Contact us and find out what Keahana can do for your surf or your team! The difference is found in the water!

Thomas Koenen. , co-owner, marketing & sales

Birthday 23-04-1962 , Lower Buchanan ,Liberia, West Africa

Being a surfer and working in the European surfing industry for the past 15 years I really needed to get things changed in my life. Having worked for and with brands like Oakley and Rusty my knowledge about marketing and sales in the European surfing industry had been well established. So when I heard my good friend Beto Santos shaping and making boards with a new material, whom to my opinion is one of the best shapers in the world. "My mind got triggerd." Meeting the Keahana big man Flavio “Carioca“ in Rio de Janeiro and finally getting it all together to start Keahana Europe, we are on the way. Surfer since my youth I never stopped with my passion in life and got blessed to meet so many good people around the world, surfing. This passion for surf and technical high end products has driven me to put Keahana Concept in the midst of the revolutionary turmoil in European Surfing Industry. My mission won’t stop until we all ride better and cleaner Keahana Concept boards.

Having been a pro mountain biker, I started my career in mountain bike buisiness 17 years ago. Wanting more in life I went further to become a pilot working in the civil sector. With the need for speed I ended up in the Royal Dutch Air force to train for F16 fighter pilot. Having my own business was always my priority and I quit the air force and started my own company about 7 years ago in “asbestos removal”. After I discovered the world of solar modules 4 years ago I started my current business “SolarNRG”. We do business with countries all over Europe. Our projects consists of building big solar plants in Spain, Belgium and Italy. Being in the solar business because of the environmental friendly character and the possibility to contribute to a cleaner and better world gave me a broad vision towards nature and thus the sport of surfing. Knowing Thomas for 17 years and being one of my best friends I joined him and , I toke the chance to help out with setting up the company for Keahana Concept in Europe. The use of my knowledge will bring the Keahana Concept into a leading position in the European surfing industry and while doing that haveing a great time at the beach as well.
